Galette aux pommes & frangipane

Versiunea in limba romana: Galette cu mere si crema frangipane
A beautiful & easy tart with apples and  almonds frangipane cream. Just buy a frozen puff pastry and use it, in case you don't have the time to make one at home. I tried to avoid the shop bought ones, but I used it for this tart and it had such a success in my beloved family, that I think I will use it again :) I haven't seen a dessert to disappear so fast from the plates :) Adorable... ♥
1 puff pastry, defrosted
Frangipane cream: 50 g white sugar +  40 g unsalted butter, room temperature + 1 big egg + 1/2 tsp vanilla essence + 45 g grounded almonds + 1 tbsp flour 
Filling: 2-3 big apples + 2 tbsp confectioner's sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon + 1/4 tsp allspice
Cut the defrosted pastry in 6 equal pieces, on a floured surface. Transfer the pastry pieces to an oven baking sheet.
Prepare the frangipane cream: mix the sugar and butter until you obtain a fluffy cream. Mix the egg & vanilla essence. Add the almonds and flour. Mix everything well. Divide the frangipane cream between the 6 pieces of puff pastry, without covering the edges (almost 1,5 cm to be free). Keep the baking sheet in a cold place for at least 30 minutes. 
Heat the oven to 200 degrees C. Wash and dry the apples, remove the seeds and cut them in slices. Carefully mix the apples with sugar, cinnamon and allspice. Take the baking sheet out of the fridge and put the apples on top of the frangipane cream.
 Bake for 15 - 20 minutes.
Take the baking sheet out of the oven, powder some confectioner's sugar over the tarts and put the baking sheet again in the oven under the heated broiler, only a couple of minutes. Be careful, as it will become brown very fast.

Healthy breakfast: raspberries quinoa porridge

I love quinoa! I discovered it earlier and prepared quinoa with chickpeas, dried fruits and spices.  It is the ideal food for a healthy diet. The aztecs consumed quinoa 5000 years ago and it was considered the source of their power. The Mother Grain!
Advantages:
♥ significantly more protein than any other cereal
♥ the quality of quinoa's protein is better than the meat protein
♥ technically speaking, quinoa is not a cereal, but a fruit 
♥ very rich in minerals & vitamins
♥ contains 4 times more calcium than wheat 
♥ contains iron, vitamin B & vitamin E 
♥ contains a reduced amount of fat
♥ contains essential fat acids.
I discovered another friendly way to introduce this wonder food in my kids meals. Next step: quinoa muffins.



500 ml soya milk + 400 g quinoa + 3 tbsp brown sugar + 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Serve with: raspberries, strawberries, more milk, if necessary.
Wash thoroughly the quinoa grains under a lot of running cold water, and drain well. Bring the soya milk to boil, add the quinoa and boil again. Simmer for 15 minutes, covered. Add the sugar & cinnamon and boil for 5 more minutes. Serve with red fruits, more milk, if necessary and a pinch of cinnamon.
